Frequently Asked Questions
What should be done to a stain prior to bringing it to the cleaners?

The best action to take for a stain is to blot it gently and take the item to a professional cleaner within 48 hours. If you attempt to remove a stain without specialized knowledge of stain removal and fibers and fabrics, you may damage the garment or make the stain more difficult to remove.

Why should I use a cleaning specialist?
A cleaning specialist has been trained to identify the best cleaning method for a particular fiber or fabric. Also, these specialists have unique experience in removing stains and finishing your item to keep it looking fabulous for the life of the garment.
Terminology
Drycleaning: Drycleaning is a cleaning process for textiles using a solvent rather than water. The solvent used by Dependable is Eco-Solv and is 100% biodegradable. The standard in the industry is perchloroethylene, abbreviated "perc". This solvent is currently being phased out in a number of states due to environmental concerns.
Wet Cleaning: Wet cleaning is the safest garment cleaning alternative method to traditional dry cleaning. It utilizes specialized machinery, biodegradable soaps and conditioners, and various types of pressing and re-forming equipment that may be specialized for many different fabric and fiber types. The most important aspect of successful wet cleaning is expertise and knowledge of the operator. Rainbow Laundry by Dependable employs wet cleaning techniques whenever it is found to be safe and suitable for cleaning a garment.
Special Whitening: Special Whitening is a technique used to whiten and brighten textiles. Rainbow Laundry by Dependable uses a proprietary mix of detergents and additives to return your brilliant colors back to a 'like new' condition. This process also makes use of specially designed soaking tanks which control the temperature and create bubbles to provide a gentle mechanical action for cleaning.
Deconstruction & Reconstruction (D&R) Restoration: This is method of cleaning a garment which could not be cleaned with conventional cleaning techniques. First, the garment is taken apart by one of our expert tailors. Once the garment has been broken down to pieces, we are able to clean each piece with the techniques best suited for the fiber or fabric. Once all pieces are cleaned the garment is reassembled.

Reweaving & Re-knitting: With this service, Rainbow Laundry by Dependable’s experts will execute a process of repairing damaged woven or knit fabrics. Depending on the size and condition of the damaged area, and the fabric to be worked on, one of the following methods is applied.

French Reweave: This technique, also known as the Invisible Weave, is done on select fabrics with small tears, holes and burns. Individual thread strands from hidden areas, such as a cuff or inseam, are actually woven together by hand. This creates new fabric as it closes the hole and the repair is virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding fabric. Some fabrics, such as gabardine, don't always lend themselves to completely invisible results.

Inweave: For larger tears, and when the China reweave is not practical, inweave is used. The reweaver cuts a patch of hidden fabric and places it over the damaged area, matching the fabric’s pattern. The frayed edges are then hand woven into the material.

Re-knitting: Similar to the French weave, this process involves taking hidden strands from sweaters, double knits and wool knits and knitting them into the damaged area. Intricate care is taken in matching the garment’s knit pattern and style.

Re-pleating: Re-pleating is a process where pleats which have come out of a garment can be reset into the garment. This process is completed by a Rainbow Laundry by Dependable expert finisher by hand or through specialized equipment, depending upon the type of pleat.

Re-beading: Re-beading is a specialized process where a Rainbow Laundry by Dependable expert replaces beads which have fallen off or been damaged. This is a lengthy process due to the hand detailing and precision necessary for such a repair.
